Lubricating oil spin-on filters (spin-on lubricating oil filters) are widely used integrated filtration devices in industrial equipment and vehicle lubrication systems. They feature a threaded spin-on design for quick replacement and are specifically designed to remove mechanical impurities, oxidation products, and moisture from lubricating oil, thereby protecting the core components of equipment.
1. Core Structure and Working Principle
Modular Design
Metal Housing: Made of stamped steel or aluminium alloy, it is pressure-resistant and impact-resistant (maximum pressure rating of 1.6 MPa). The bottom features an integrated seal ring and mounting threads (e.g., ISO 4570 standard).
Composite Filter Element:
Main Filter Layer: Glass fibre pleated filter paper (with a filtration area of over 0.8 m²), offering precision coverage from 5-40 μm (commonly 10 μm/25 μm);
Support structure: galvanised steel mesh frame + central tube to prevent collapse under high pressure;
Functional layer: some models include an absorbent resin layer (e.g., Z oil filter) to separate free water.
Dual valve system:
Bypass valve (spring steel plate): opens when pressure differential exceeds 0.15-0.3 MPa to ensure continuous oil supply;
Check valve (silicone/fluororubber): Prevents lubricating oil from flowing back during shutdown, reducing startup wear.
Operating process
Lubricating oil flows into the housing through side holes → is filtered from the outside to the inside through filter paper → clean oil is discharged from the central tube to lubrication points → impurities are retained in the filter paper folds, and moisture is separated by the absorbent layer.
