The working principle of air filter cartridges
The air filter cartridge captures particles through a multi-stage physical interception mechanism, the specific process is as follows:
Inertial Impaction
Large particles (>10μm): due to their high mass and inertia, they cannot flow with the airflow around the filter fibres and are captured by direct impact on the fibre surface.
Typical scenarios: sawdust in woodworking workshop, coarse dust in metal processing.
Interception
Medium particles (1-10μm): when approaching the fibre with the airflow, the particle size is larger than the fibre gap, and is directly intercepted and attached.
Typical scenarios: pollen, industrial soot.
Diffusion
Micro-particles (<0.1μm): Influenced by Brownian motion, the random trajectory of particles increases the probability of collision with fibres.
Typical scenarios: viruses, smoke particles.
Electrostatic Attraction (EA)
Charged Filter Media: Some cartridges add an electrostatic electret layer, which adsorbs charged or neutral particles through electrostatic force (enhancing the capture of sub-micron particles).
