Work principle

Desiccant Breather Filters prevent equipment damage by removing moisture and contaminants from intake air. When tanks or gearboxes vent, humid air enters and condenses, accelerating oil oxidation/emulsification and causing lubrication failure - especially in corrosive coastal/marine environments with salt spray. Our solution: air first passes through moisture-absorbing media (color-changing from orange to dark green when saturated), then through a 3μm/10μm particulate filter. This dual-stage process eliminates water vapor and solid contaminants, significantly reducing oxidation and extending oil/component life in transmission systems. Replace media when fully dark green for maintained protection.

Daily Maintenance & Management of Desiccant Breathers

1. Silica Gel Filling StandardFill silica gel to 2/3 of breather capacity. Replace when over 1/3 shows discoloration. Note: According to State Grid maintenance standards, transformer is considered abnormal when 2/3 of silica gel has changed color.

2. Oil Cup Level Requirement
Maintain insulating oil level above the pipe bottom for effective sealing. Never exceed the MAX mark on oil gauge to prevent vent blockage and ensure proper breathing function.

3. Sealing Performance Check
Proper sealing is critical - normal discoloration should begin from the bottom. If top discoloration occurs first, immediately inspect and reseal the breather to ensure proper operation.

4. Troubleshooting Guidelines
Monitor closely if abnormal oil level or no breathing is observed. Check for vent blockage that may cause negative pressure. For oil overflow cases contaminating silica gel, promptly replace gel and monitor transformer oil condition.
