The Parker Velcon SO series separator filter cartridge is used as the second stage of the filter/separator container to prevent water from re entering downstream fuel. Their function is to separate the condensed water droplets generated by the first stage filter while allowing hydrocarbon fluids to pass through. The level coalescer filter element is completed.
The coalescing filter cartridge is mainly used for coalescing emulsified water and removing particles from hydrocarbon fluids. The biggest single application is the filtration of aviation jet fuel. They are also used in conjunction with other types of fuels, process streams from refineries and petrochemical plants, and condensate streams for producing natural gas.
If other liquids are immiscible, have different densities, and do not contain high concentrations of surfactants, they can be separated. Based on experience, if the mixture sample is easily separated within one or two hours, a coalescer may be used. If the mixture does not separate after 24 hours, the agglomeration may not be effective.
